Clowndog...

hardcore punk with keyboards and stuff
Clowndog were a New Zealand indie-punk band that formed in 1997 and broke up in 2003. The bands first gig was played on the back of truck outside the Recreation Centre in Motueka and their official last show was opening for Trans Am at the Phat Club in Nelson. Over that time the band released 5 EP's, numerous outtakes, appeared on various compilations and gained a reputation as an entertaining and somewhat bizzare live act; often including the thowing of sausages into the audience.
After chating to quite a few people who told us how hard it was to find some of our past recordings, we decided to set up this site and make all our recordings downloadable for free, since the chances of those recordings being made available in a physical form again are pretty minimal. Sure, some of the songs are terrible and some of the recordings are abysmal, but the songs of Clowndog were the soundtrack for many an angst ridden teenager. We'll endevour to make all the songs available as we hunt them down and convert from dodgy cassette tapes lying round the house. If we get around to it we'll also write down some kind of account of the Clowndog story before it becomes to hazy to recount.Call it a last attempt to relive the glory days of our youth before we enter early-middle age or even some kind of quarter life crisis.
Lastly, I know this site looks totally shocking, but that kind of sums up Clowndog really. What a reminder of the good times this will be, in bright vomit orange. Ignore the delivery and let the music talk for once. Oh the irony of a band who's front guy spent more time talking on stage than he did actually playing. So, for prosperities sake, and with thanks to the services provided by this tacky free website company based somewhere in Romainia, here are the tunes, reviews, articles and photos...
